Kochi to host the global meet on the marine ecosystem, MECOS-3. The 3rd international symposium on marine ecosystems-challenges and opportunities (MECOS-3) in Kochi from 7-10 January 2020. The meeting will be held at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi, Kerala.
MECOS-3 is to be organized by the Marine Biological Association of India. It will be inaugurated by Petri Suuronen, Programme Director, Blue Bioeconomy Natural Resources Institute, Finland.
MECOS-3 will serve as a platform to hold discussions on a range of topics, including the impact of the climate crisis on marine ecosystems and the unusual warming of the Arabian Sea.
♦ The meeting will focus on the UN’s sustainable development goal-14 (life underwater), recent developments in aquaculture, development of small-scale fisheries, eco-labeling and green fishing technologies.
